Lord Mayor’s Lecture – Sir Christopher Frayling on The Yellow Peril

The Dublin Chinese New Year Festival is delighted to present popular culture expert Sir Christopher Frayling, who will discuss his recently published book The Yellow Peril: Dr. Fu Manchu and the Rise of Chinaphobia. In his book Frayling draws on an impressive range of cultural references – fiction, film, theatre, music-hall, TV and playground doggerel – to plot the emergence of sinophobia in Britain, and to argue for its ongoing resilience today.
Frayling is an historian, writer, broadcaster and critic , known for his study of popular culture. He was previously Chairman of Arts Council England, Rector of the Royal College of Art and Chairman of the Design Council, and is a long-serving Trustee of the Victoria and Albert Museum.
